Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)

CAPS offers a wide range of free, short-term mental health-related services to full-time, degree-seeking students at the University of Richmond. About one third of UR students use CAPS services at least once before they graduate. CAPS is fully accredited by the International Association of Counseling Services, Inc.

More Information

Except for certain rare legal situations, all CAPS information, including whether or not a student made an appointment, is confidential and cannot be released to anyone else without the student's permission.

See the CAPS Informed Consent and Privacy Policy documents for additional information.

CAPS is open 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, during the academic year (approximately mid-August to mid-June).

Counseling services are closed from mid-June to mid-August (students who need mental health services during that time need to seek care off-campus and/or at home).

CAPS is closed during winter break, and during most university holidays.
